The Page Wonders: Public Relations Optimized for SEO
So I was wondering why my previous post didn't show up as a link on the corporate Page One blog, and I think I have solved the problem. I was copying the trackback code and I think that I have to write my post with a link to The Page Wonders: Public Relations Optimized for SEO directly in the pop-up box. I'll give this a shot and see if it shows up.

Cross- pollination
So as part of my work I blogged on our corporate blog yesterday and have become really interested in how to promote traffic to the blog post. I have mostly been promoting the post on Twitter and looking for blogs that touch on SEO and PR (the subject of the blog post) and posting comments with the link to my post.
Currently, I am the third-most relevant blog post for the key search terms "PR SEO" and am fourth for "SEO PR" (yes, the order matters). According to Google keyword tools, the average search volume for PR SEO was 1,300 in September, and I am hoping that I will get some organic traffic from people doing Google searches (which would be pretty cool). Only time (and the data!) will tell what sends the most people, but I am excited to look at analytics in a week or so and see the traffic trends.

Widgets, twidgets
So I briefly attempted to find a Google Analytics widget, but instead decided to put in something that would show my Twitter feed. I've become a little addicted to Twitter, which I began using for work, and also have my updates posted to my Facebook page. I recently crossed the 200-follower mark and was surprisingly pleased to do so. The next milestone will be to get to a point where I have more people following me than I am following.
Another goal is to become one of the most followed people at my company. We are almost all on Twitter because it is a really great way to be part of (and listen in on) the conversations going on in the tech world. As news hounds (I work for a PR firm) we all want to be in on the latest details of EVERYTHING, and I've already had a couple of interactions on Twitter with some pretty big folks in the tech world, including making connections with reporters, analysts and influencers and even pitching my clients.

Google Analytics!
Woohoo! I kind of heart Google analytics, and I just installed tracking code on this blog to monitor traffic here (not that I really expect any... but still). As part of my job I have worked a lot with Google Analytics, but this is the first time that I have every used it on a site that I completely control and own, which makes it kind of exciting. The format that I chose for this blog allows for a widget to be installed at the bottom of the blog, and I kind of think that it would be cool to grab a widget that would show my traffic numbers... even though it will mostly be a flat line at zero... Now to find a widget!
Here we go again
This is probably my first or second attempt at writing a blog, dating way back to a livejournal account that I think I started in high school and then promptly did not ever use. However, it might finally be time to give the thoughts in my head a real place to play out in pixels, so I'm going to make a real effort to keep this one going by attempting to post early and often.
Here goes!
